Important Safety Information — Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Testosterone therapy is for men with clinically low testosterone confirmed by lab testing. It can affect fertility, may increase red blood cell counts, and requires ongoing lab monitoring. Compounded testosterone preparations are not FDA-approved, and the FDA has not established their safety or effectiveness.

Do not use if you have

  • Prostate or breast cancer (current or suspected)
  • Desire to conceive in the near term (TRT suppresses sperm production)
  • Untreated severe sleep apnea or significantly elevated hematocrit
  • Uncontrolled heart failure or recent cardiovascular event

Common side effects

Common side effects may include acne or oily skin, injection-site reactions, fluid retention, mood changes, and increased red blood cell count. Testicular size and fertility may decrease during therapy.

Serious risks

Seek medical care for chest pain, shortness of breath, one-sided weakness, or leg swelling and pain. Ongoing lab monitoring of testosterone, hematocrit, and PSA is a required part of responsible therapy.
